Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) problems are characterised by pain and stiffness in the jaw joint and surrounding tissues and are often accompanied by clicking and locking. One or both joints may be involved and, depending on the severity, can affect a person’s ability to speak, chew, swallow and laugh.
TMJ problems are also associated with a wide range of other symptoms, including neck pain and headaches, toothache and ear symptoms such as earache, fullness and ringing in the ear (tinnitus). Collectively, these symptoms are part of a group of conditions related to tempromandiular joint disorder, or TMD.
At The Health Formula TMJ Clinic we are committed to providing our patients with effective solutions for jaw pain and associated symptoms. We understand that experiencing TMD can be painful and distressing, so we will work with you to develop a personalised treatment plan to help reduce pain and restore normal function as quickly as possible. We also work closely with dentists and, if necessary, will refer to appropriate specialists.
Our clinic provides high-quality care to the residents of Melbourne, including Caulfield and Caulfield South, Elsternwick, Elwood, Ormond, Bentley, Glenhuntly, Malvern and beyond.
